Our methodology
Every product on YardHaul goes through a deliberate research and evaluation process. Here's exactly what that looks like — because you deserve to know how we make our recommendations.
We start by mapping every major product option in a category — BBQ grills, garden tools, outdoor furniture, etc. We pull together thousands of Amazon AU customer reviews, expert buying guides, and specialist outdoor forums to understand the landscape.
We immediately cut any product that isn't built for our climate. That means checking UV resistance ratings, heat tolerance, rust protection for coastal environments, and whether the product is actually stocked and shipped in Australia. International products with no local availability don't make the cut.
Where possible, we test products ourselves. Where we can't, we go deep on verified purchaser reviews — specifically looking at long-term durability reports, complaints about fading or cracking in heat, and how sellers handle warranty claims in Australia.
We look at the realistic price range for a category and ask: what's the best you can buy at each budget tier? Expensive doesn't always mean better. We spotlight value picks as loudly as premium options.
Only products that pass all filters make the list. We then rank them by overall score and tag them as Editor's Pick, Budget Pick, or Premium Pick based on their position in the market. Lists are reviewed and updated regularly as new products launch or older ones fall off in quality.
Rated for Australian sun exposure. Products that fade, warp, or crack under UV are out.
We look for products owners rave about years later — not just on unboxing day.
Must ship within Australia with reliable delivery. No overseas-only listings.
Minimum 4.0 rating with 50+ verified reviews. We cross-check for review manipulation red flags.
We check whether the price reflects real quality — not just a high RRP used to fake "sale" pricing.
Products should back themselves with at least a 12-month warranty honoured in Australia.
We reject products that don't meet our standards. Here's what disqualifies a product:
Suspicious review patterns — mass 5-star reviews, incentivised posts — are an immediate disqualifier.
If you can't easily buy it on Amazon AU with local fulfilment, it doesn't belong on YardHaul.
Products with consistent reports of fading, cracking, or rusting within 12 months are cut.
A product with broadly poor buyer satisfaction doesn't deserve a recommendation.
Our affiliate commission comes from Amazon AU — and it's the same rate regardless of which product you buy. That means we have no financial reason to push you toward an expensive option over a cheaper one. We genuinely want you to buy the right thing.
